Saying goodbye is always the hardest...

Today we had to say good bye to Spanky, the dog I grew up with.  He lived a long, loving life.  I will never forget convincing my Dad we needed a dog, and researching all about Italian Greyhounds.  The day we picked him out of the litter, he could fit into my 10 year old hand.  He was so cute and tiny, just like a beanie baby.  We decided to name him Spanky after the dog in the movie "The Little Rascals."  We later realized that the dog's name was Petie, and one of the kids was Spanky!  Oh well :)

I loved to cuddle with the little guy when we first got him.  He was the best cuddler.  I remember trying to take him for walks when he didn't want to leave the sight of the house.  He loved to play fetch, and in his prime he was very acrobatic.  He used to flip and dive to catch his beloved Kong Ball.  He used to love to whip his toys around and fling them into strange places.  Sometimes they would land on the mantle or when he had great aim, into my Mom's cup of tea.

Spanky is the reason why I am with my husband today!  One day on the Cape, I saw another Italian Greyhound, and it just so happened he belonged to Craig.  I have had so many great memories with my little buddy.  He has forever left a little paw print on my heart.

Olympics, a Wedding, and a Job!

So a lot of great things have been happening this month!  The olympics continue which is an awe to watch. Craig and I have been watching as much as we can.  Hopefully we will both be able to go to the next winter olympics if he competes on the USA sled hockey team.

We had a great weekend with friends in New Jersey celebrating our good friends Dan and Shelley.  They celebrated their 2 year wedding anniversary by having the ceremony they never had.  The weekend was a blast, and their day was beautiful.  The weather was hot, but the rain held off just long enough!  Shelley looked beautiful in her gown and she had beautiful calla lilies for a bouquet.  They had great food and an awesome DJ.  Craig had to pull out some of his sweet dance moves!

Earlier this week I finally got some news I had been waiting for!  I was hired by the Dover District Court.  I am going to be an assistant clerk working in the family court.  I am very excited to start next week!

There's a first for everything...

I have never tried the whole blog thing before.  Writing is not exactly my strongest suit, but I feel as though it would be nice to remember some great memories with something in print!

The year of 2012 has been very good to Craig and I.  We are finally living in a place that we love, with our very own house on the way (big thanks to Homes For Our Troops).  We have grown close to some fantastic people, and made new loving friends.  We adopted a second puppy named Penny who is a rescue from Maine. She is a very sweet girl, and the perfect addition to our family.  George has fallen in love with her, and we all know his opinion is what matters most!

Craig, who has been playing sled hockey since the spring of 2010, made it onto the National Sled Hockey Team!!!  I am so excited for him.  He gets to travel all over the country, and the WORLD to compete in sled hockey at the international level.  I know, I know...I married a stud!  haha In all serious though, this is a big BIG accomplishment for him-he has worked very hard.  I am looking forward to traveling to South Korea with him when he competes in the World Championships next April.

Craig and I celebrated our marriage with friends in May.  We were married last year on August 27th in front of a few close family members, but we planned a big party to share in our joy with all who matter to us.  We had the most beautiful day, and the most amazing time with everyone.  Following our wedding, we went on an amazing trip to the Dominican Republic, which was donated to us by an amazing couple.  It still amazes me that such generosity exists, I do my best to pay it forward every day! Our trip to the DR was one that we will remember for a very long time to come.  The beaches looked like a post card and the people were very friendly.  We got to do something I've always wanted to do-swim with dolphins.  It was an amazing experience.  Craig and I even got to play with sea lions.  That was Craig's favorite part.  They are a lot like dogs; they love to be loved :).

I am looking for a job, but I know the right one will come along.  I love to be home with my furbabies (who know they are spoiled rotten).
